SMS Terms

Last updated: October 17, 2026

Bit & Grain Technologies LLC ("Bit & Grain") provides a business management platform that contractors use to run their businesses. Contractors on the Pro plan can text their clients through Bit & Grain. This page explains who the texts come from, what to expect, and how to stop them.

Who sends the texts?

Texts are sent on behalf of the contractor you're working with, using Bit & Grain's registered text messaging service. Bit & Grain Technologies LLC is the brand registered with the mobile carriers, and each text names the contractor's business.

Each business that texts through Bit & Grain has its own phone number, so the texts you get from a contractor come from that business's number. Our text messaging provider is Twilio. If you don't remember agreeing to texts from a business, reply STOP and contact the business directly.

How you opt in

There are two ways a contractor can start texting you through Bit & Grain:

  • You check the box yourselfon the contractor's job-request form or booking page, next to the wording shown below.
  • The contractor confirms they have your permission. When a contractor adds or edits your contact details, or sends you an estimate or invoice by text, they must confirm that you have given them permission to text you on behalf of their business. They are responsible for keeping proof of that permission.

Either way, we record the date, time, and source of the opt-in and the wording that was shown. When you opt in, you get one text from the business confirming it, with instructions for STOP and HELP.

What kinds of messages will I receive?

  • Appointment reminders, usually one about 24 hours before your appointment and one about an hour before.
  • Estimates and invoices, sent as a text with a link to view the document online, plus payment reminders when an invoice is due.
  • Replies. If you text the business, or reply to one of these texts (for example to reschedule), the contractor can text you back from the same number.

You will notreceive marketing or promotional texts through Bit & Grain.

How often?

Message frequency varies. A typical client gets 1 or 2 messages per appointment or document, plus any replies and payment reminders. There is no recurring schedule apart from your appointments and active work with the contractor.

How do I stop?

Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving texts from that business. Standard opt-out words (STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT) work too. There is no fee for replying STOP. Stopping texts from one business does not affect texts from any other business. You can also ask the contractor directly to stop texting you.

How do I get help?

Reply HELPto any text for instructions, or contact the contractor through the channels they use for normal business communication. For questions about Bit & Grain itself, email support@bitandgrain.app or see our Contact page.

Carrier disclaimer

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Bit & Grain and the contractor make reasonable efforts to deliver messages promptly, but delivery is not guaranteed.

What did you agree to?

If you checked the box on a job-request form or booking page, you saw the label “Yes, text me about my appointments, estimates and invoices with [business name].” and agreed to the following, with the contractor's business name in place of [business name]:

“By checking this box, I agree to receive recurring SMS messages from Bit & Grain Technologies LLC on behalf of [business name], at the phone number above, including appointment reminders, estimates, invoices, payment reminders and replies to those messages. Message frequency varies (typically 1 or 2 per appointment or document). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time (no fee for replying STOP), or HELPfor help. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Phone numbers and SMS opt-in data are not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.”

Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase. How we handle phone numbers and opt-in records is explained in the Text Messages section of our Privacy Policy.
